Mirella Amato

Beer specialist, Mirella Amato, has dedicated herself to promoting local beer and the art of beer
appreciation since 2007. Three years later, in 2010, Mirella became the first female Certified Cicerone TM
(beer sommelier) in Canada. She is one of only ten National Level BJCP judges in the country and has
sat on the jury for the Canadian Brewing Awards, the Great American Beer Festival, the European Beer
Star and the World Beer Cup.


Mirella regularly conducts fun and informative guided beer tasting sessions, beer dinners and food
pairing workshops. She is an occasional beer columnist for CBC radio and a regular contributor to
TAPS Magazine. Her work has been published in many beer magazines and brewspapers.
Mirella was a board member for the Canadian Amateur Brewers’ Association from 2007 to 2010. She is
a founding member of Cask! and a proud member of the Pink Boots Society. Mirella also founded and
runs the Toronto Chapter of Barley’s Angels.
