Jessica Blake

with Luke Jackson, guitar

In a time when most musicians hide behind catchy lyrics and sounds that might not reflect their personality at all, Jessica Blake is a breath of fresh air—an exceptional singer/songwriter who willingly opens her heart, shares her struggles, and bares her soul.   Jessica has honed her songwriting and performing skills over many years in a variety of settings including The Drake Underground, Dora Keogh’s Pub, Free Times Café, El Mocambo and has performed lead vocals for the Indie Rock band 'Huddle' and the family band ‘Rock N’ Rainbow’ at the Horseshoe, Lula Lounge, the Gladstone Hotel, and The Supermarket in Toronto. While Jessica isn’t on stage she can be found performing daily for caregivers and toddlers at ‘Rainbow Songs Inc’ (a company that provides interactive pre-school music classes). “Something to Live For”, a song she co-wrote and sang with Julian Taylor of the former band Staggered Crossing, was picked up by the popular TV show ‘Degrassi: The Next Generation’.Jessica draws inspiration from female Canadian icons such as Sarah McLachlan and Jann Arden (whose rhythm section will be featured on her current in-production album). Her own sound casts a wide net to encompass folk, pop, with a touch of jazz.
